Easter Holidays Day Three

With the lock down restricting where we can go, my boys have been telling me where they would like to go first when the restrictions have been lifted. Therefore your challenge is to try and change their minds.

  • Where would you like to go?
  • Why have you chosen that place?
  • How do I get there?
  • What can I do once I am there?
  • What else can you tell me about your chosen place? remember you are trying to persuade my boys to choose your place.

Also why not try the…

A-Z search

Hi everyone,

The challenge I am going to set for you today is to look around your house for different items, whose name begins with each of the letters of the alphabet e.g. A= apple, B = ball, C= cotton reel.

How far can you get down the alphabet?

Send a photograph of all the items you find.

Remember you can email your ideas / work to slt@petworthprimary.co.uk. It is always good to see your work!

Easter Holidays Day Two

I adore playing with numbers, so here are a couple of ideas.

Firstly, think of a number and place this in the middle of your piece of paper. Then put a circle around the number. Now write down as many questions for that number as you can think of. The challenge is to write as many questions for every operation ( x, ÷, + and -). Be imaginative and creative!

Numbers away!

When I look around my house I can’t help but count some of the things we have…

1= The room has one door

2= The cupboards have two doors

3= There are three cards on the mantlepiece

4 = There are four bowls on the table

5= There are five coats on the door

6 = There are six candles in the front room…

How far can you count with the items in your house? What is the largest number of things you have?

Remember you can email slt@petworthprimary.co.uk pictures of your work. It is always good to see what you have been doing.

Then why not try this problem from nrich.

Easter Activities Day One

We have been asked to supply activities over the Easter holidays by some parents, so every day we will post one activity for your family to have a go at. Our first activity is art…

Draw a letter of the alphabet on your piece of paper. Your letter can be in any style/font you like, but the larger the space within the letter, the better. Create sections within your letter and draw zentange patterns in each section.

Here are a couple of examples:

art in 2020 | Tangle art, Zentangle drawings, Doodle artZentangle letters s | Zentangle stylized alphabet. Lace letter S ...

Another option would be to leave the letter white and zentangle around it. When finished please email your designs to slt@petworthprimary.co.uk.

Socrative Daily Quiz

For a bit of fun we will set two quizzes on Socrative https://b.socrative.com/login/student/with the room number 553718. The ten multiple choice questions will be based on a curriculum subject although there will be a twist.

The first quiz will go live at 10am and close at 11am. The second quiz will start at 2pm and finish at 3pm. This is just for fun and you have as many goes as you like to try to get 10. However more importantly will you beat the Galvin family?
