Parliament Week – Year 3, 4, 5 and 6

This week is Parliament week, which also coincides with a Climate Change Conference in Glasgow called COP26.

As a school we are looking at the issue of sustainability and how we can can make small changes in school, to affect the wider world.

Have a look at the PowerPoint at some of the issues that are affecting the world.

Can you try some of the activities?

 

Activity 2

Your challenge is to write a letter to Mr Galvin, explaining how we can make the school more environmentally friendly.

How can we do our bit to ensure that we are a sustainable school?

Now, Mr Galvin likes correct punctuation and grammar, so make sure you don’t make any spelling mistakes.

  • Try to make your letter formal, do not use contractions e.g. can’t
  • Paragraph 1- Explain why you are writing to him
  • Paragraph 2 – First idea to make the school eco-friendly and how this will make a difference
  • Paragraph 3 – Second idea to make the school eco-friendly and how this will make a difference
  • Paragraph 4- Conclusion.

Once you have completed your draft, make sure you check your spellings, with a dictionary, if possible!

Check your capital letters and full stops. Have you been able to use an exclamation mark or question mark?

Look at the layout in the attached document. Can you write your letter up in neat in the same style?
